Area K-12 Schools

 is a K-12 public school district located Gaylord Community Schoolson northern Lower Michigan. The district encompasses approximately 265 square miles, including portions of Otsego, Antrim, Crawford and Montmorency counties. Students are provided a rigorous and relevant academic program enhanced by an array of co-curricular and athletic opportunities. The Gaylord Intermediate School was identified by the Michigan Department of Education as a REWARD school and the district as a Beating the Odds schools. All of the schools are AdvancED Accredited. Johannesburg-Lewiston Area Schools district mission is to educate its students in a manner that will enable them to participate responsibly in an ever-changing world. Higher Education

North Central Michigan College (NCMC) offers general education courses and Associate degrees that serve as a gateway to a vast array of programs through the University Center Gaylord. NCMC provides an Associate of Arts, Associate of General Studies and Associate of Applied Science in Geographic Information Systems completed entirely at UC Gaylord. Contact them at 989.705.3600.

Lake Superior State University is known for strong and distinctive academic programs taught by faculty who take an interest in student success. was founded by the Felician Sisters of Livonia in Madonna University 1937, and is a Catholic university in the Franciscan tradition committed to teaching, scholarship, and service. The Social Work Program offers its B.S.W. degree program to students in Northern Michigan via interactive television (two-way audio/video) through the University Center Gaylord. Designed for transfer students, the part-time program may be completed in 2 1/2 years with classes scheduled to accommodate the working adult student. The Gaylord Social Work Distance Learning program replicates the main campus part-time degree completion program and is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Michigan State University - All MSW programs at Michigan State University are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). All provide the academic courses and field experiences required to develop the ten core social work competencies identified by CSWE and the social work practice community. Eastern Michigan University offers a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership. Their advanced professional education programs develop leaders who demonstrate reflective thought and scholarship within the context of a culturally diverse society.
